It's been quite a few years since I visited Rachael’s Cafe and a lot of miles from Bloomington, Indiana to where I now live in Forest Hills, Maryland at a lovely assisted living facility, Hart Heritage Estates not far from where my oldest daughter and her family live. When I finally decided that I couldn't continue living on my own, my daughter begged me to come live with her and her three kids, husband 2 cats and a dog. There might even be a couple of jumbo rats that one of my grandson has. I can't remember if they died yet. Anyway, I didn't want to impose on her family, so the compromise was that I would live nearby in this facility, an assisted living residence for Bel Air seniors. And I do enjoy this place with their 6.5 acres of park-like grounds where I can stroll and birdwatch. I would be a great spokes person for the facility. I even have suggested to some of my Bloomington friends to take a look at the Hart Heritage Estate's website. But most of them have family in Indiana, so if they end up in an assisted living facility, it will be in Indianna.

So what do I miss most about Rachael’s Cafe? I would say their sweets and muffins. When my husband was still alive we would go every Sunday before church and have breakfast there. When my adult children would visit we often would go down in the evening to listen to jazz on their Late Jazz Nights. I wondered what happened to Rachel when the cafe closed down. Perhap's she has opened another delightful place elsewhere.

I stumbled upon this cafe looking for a quick cup of coffee that wasn't Starbucks while visiting Bloomington. After visiting I quickly fell in love and came back as many times as possible in my short stay. Great atmosphere. Quality cofee. Friendly service.

Great place. Good coffee. I like studying and hanging out here, and it's definitely my favorite coffee shop in the area. The food is very tasty, but not cheap.

Rachael is an absolute gem! She is sweet and so is her cafe. Rachael's is a great place to visit if you love supporting local business. Not only does Rachael promote her cafe, but she also promotes local artists and venders. Three cheers for Racael's Cafe!!!!!!

I still go to Soma once in a while for a smoothie or snack, but Rachael's is definitely my new spot for studying. It's a lot cleaner, quieter, and roomier than any of the other independent coffee shops in town. I only wish they had later hours, but that's a problem with all the coffee shops in town, not just Rachael's.
